I really want to like this shoe but the fit is just all wrong. It replaced some Cole Haan Ventetians that are no longer made that fit like a glove. The shoe started out as being very snug fitting which I expected would gradually stretch a little to fit my foot, the same way the Cole Haan’s did. However the shoe has stretched so much that my foot is now swimming around in the shoe. My heel pops out of the heel cup occasionally and my socks ruck up underneath my arch so often that I have to readjust them after walking on a very short distance. Despite its superior styling to the Cole Haan’s it replaced and the quality of the finish I just can’t recommend this shoe because the fit is just so wrong.

This is a great casual loafer. They’re made with thick leather uppers and a full leather lining as well. Very solid construction for a light and slim-fitting shoe. What I like about them most is that I can wear them without socks and my feet don’t get sweaty like they do with synthetic linings of less expensive shoes. Based on other advice here I ordered them a half-size smaller than regular and they fit perfectly. They are a little stiff at first, as the leather upper is substantial but just after a few wearings they are starting to mold to my feet and soften up. Unlike a driving shoe, the sole is leather with a thin rubber layer over it. So they are a bit loud when walking on hard surfaces. But this hasn’t been a problem. Best of all, Zappos service is superb!

Great about-town shoe. A little snug at first, but after a week of break-in, fit is perfect. Great travel shoe, only pair needed for a 2 week trip to Italy.

I loved these shoes. Great style/comfort… worked in business and casual settings. However, I ran into an issue where the right foot front of the shoe was wearing after 1-month. It literally created a hole directly in the front of the shoe. Through Zappos, I returned the shoes for the same pair (Zappos was of course a breeze to work with). This time, after 4-5 wears, it happened again and again only on the right side. You would then assume that it’s how I walk… as in I drag my right foot around. Duh, of course that’s it! But, it’s never happened to me before with any shoe. And I even paid attention to see if I’m a foot dragger… and alas, I’m not! So, great pair of shoes if only I didn’t experience the hole situation. I really think this is an isolated situation to just me – so take what I say with a grain of salt. I’ve since worn other Frye shoes (my wife, too) and we love them. To really get to the meat of my review, I wanted to point out how incredibly awesome the customer service is with Frye shoe company. If you invest in a pair of Frye shoes, you’re not only getting a slick high-quality pair but you’re getting top notch customer service. And that certainly comes in handy here and there. Truly a great company.

I bought these for my husband and in less than 30 days the front of one shoe split open on a crease. Thinking it was just a fluke we sent them back and got another pair, as they are very good looking and comfortable. Unfortunately the same thing happened with the second pair, this time on both shoes. Must be a design flaw. Too bad!

This shoe has a major design flaw. The sole does not extend far enough over the toe. Hence, the upper leather toe area wears out after minimal use. All of my other loafer shoes do not have this problem. I love the comfort and style; however, it has a flawed design. Look at the photos.

I tried two pairs of these shoes, both of them wore a hole through at the front of the shoe. It seems that the sole flexes and rubs against the toe leather. Good looks, poor design.

I was looking for a loafer that was comfortable and could be worn causally or dressed up. I originally ordered these out of curiosity, based on the great reviews. I had bought a pair of Uggs loafers in conjunction with these thinking I would most likely return them because the Uggs were cheaper. Once I tried them on I didn’t want to take them off. They are the most comfortable loafers I’ve ever worn or purchased. Just pure quality, worth every penny. I got the oily black color they look awesome. You know you’re getting quality with Frye but they hit a grand slam with these. I’m actually considering the idea in ordering another pair for my dad and a beige brown color for myself. The soft leather soles are so smooth and comfortable you can’t wait to get them on. They have some weight to them which helps to absorb your weight when walking so you capable of walking for miles in comfort. I walked around NYC for about 5 hours in these without socks and they felt amazing. Give them a try and you’ll be glad you did.

I normally wear a 10.5 to 11, but had to go down to a 9.5 for these to fit well. Great looking shoe, takes a few days to start breaking in well to fit best.

My husband loves these shoes, but after a few months he noticed there was a small hole where the shoe was hitting the pavement. We called Frye and they stood behind the product and sent us a new pair.

Love the style and have ordered a second pair. I agree with other reviewers that holes form in the very front of the shoe after wearing for several months. I have never had this problem with any other shoes, and do not believe that I drag my toes on the ground. Must be a design flaw. Love the way they look, and very comfortable.

Owned for a year. As other reviewers mentioned there is a design flaw causing the front of the shoe to crease and now there is a hole there. Do not buy!!!

I ordered my first pair in 11s but the toes both wore a hole from the leather flexing during walking and had to return. I have now ordered a 10 this time and hopefully the shoe will flex differently. Great looking and comfortable just hope it holds up this time.

I have had about 6 pair of these and keep expecting the next pair to reflect the quality of the first. The original pair that I purchased was softer leather and the toe of the shoe did not extend over the front of the sole. Reminds me of the Italian-made Cole Haan’s before they became Asian-made Cole Haan. Picture is 5 year old pair that I still wear. Newer version lasts 3 months with intermittent wear.
